Looks good. Nice details, e.g. the grass between the rocks.

Wanna take a swim? Hike down to the lake, swim or soak in the hot spring, then grab some grilled food and relax... Beware of that little farm on top of the cliff though – these guys don't like tourists picking herbs!

EDIT: sorry, this link broke... :faint:

But the image is still there... somewhere... :grandpa:

Checked out the rest of your site.  Great stuff!  I really like the Large Memorial in the scenic scenes.  You laid it out very well

Since my original 'Mountainview' wasn't meant to be a whole region, I started it again. So let's see if this becomes a real CJ.

Here is (part of) the region - as you can see right away, I'm not a serious planner. As for all the flatness and straight lines - that's the way I like it, I prefer what I call 'reverse terraforming'. I raise, lower and curve as I go along ;-)

Hillcrest is my starter town - just a small farming community with an established Railstation.

Logtown is just a community of scouts checking the area for trees to chop down. But at least they set up a working railwaystation.

Mountainview is still empty, just raised some hills and plotted a big stream, some rivers and lakes (those are the strange blue spots you may see on some pictures - just imagine them being free flowing waters :-).

So enter Farmington. Right now there are 4 areas in the making, very creatively named North(valley), West(farms), South(ernflats) and East(end). I know, that's pretty lame...

Westfarms features more farming, some nice housing already starts to develop.

Northvalley - same here, but they already have a nice lake for swimming.

Eastend starts at the transition from stream to canal (still under construction), but Sims like it. The watertaxi (WT) got established early and was well received, lots of customers (well, to be honest I gave them pretty crummy roads).

Dirty industry crept up fast, and the small harbour is pretty busy.

This WT-station gets lots of customers from the nearby Railwaystation.

CloseUps will follow, once the areas are more developed.
To be continued...

That's kinda' the way I Terraform... as I go along from city to city. They look pretty good I must say. That's also one reason I love using the taxi docks, cause in one of mine the people loved it, but since I had hardly any connections to the IND side of the canal which also boasts some commercial, it helped a whole lot to get functionality of the taxi's. Later I did connect some routes, and they still use em like it were candy to them.... I can't really trully start that town up again saddly. Mainly because my pluggins kinda' got a whole lot more content since then. Not matter, I still enjoy building new regions from a fresh set of plugins anyhow, or in this case not fresh but appended choices of options...

Multiple levels of folders can slow down the loading time of the game, and the cities, but will generally not cause problems during play. Personally, I try to DAT pack things when ever possible, but found that even this needs to be done judiciously. I have had some problems with things not working right, when there is too much in one dat file.

I actually have my playing folder and Testing folders separate... Although the playing folder is Datpacked, I have the original before that process. Makes things easier to install that way.. and me personally like a packrat love storing all that I would even remotely have a chance to use together in the playable folder. Switching out folders is easy.

Your guide is definately helpful, but I already has a proccess I use. Thanks though. I just love the variety and like you have most of the dependancies anyhow, but I am an extremely patient person, as I have a computer, I've mentioned before in another post here, that is a 2000 Gateway model at 950mz with 384 RAM and a Geforce 4. So playing the game is a slow process for me, but at least it not so when testing and such. I enjoy playing this way so I can watch my development, and add my own unique flare to it. However as you've said, there are some files I should negate from that folder as I don't plan using them... and have been in that process for a while now. Slowly, but surely I'll have those plugins just right.
I originally had organized them and saved it to a USB portable mini 4gb drive, but accidently deleted it to do something else intended for it. So now I have to reorganize them again, hence the slow process... Doing as I go along as I do in game as well. I don't mind the menus so much as I don't mind making MMLs for them. I have already made roughly 8 or so MMLs for other sets including the ones released here and the STEX. So MMLing isn't so bad for me. Keeps, in my oppinion, the menus clean enough. Still working on some MMLs to cut down the menus a bit as I go back n forth between the game and making them for it. I am a creature of habbit to degree that I form habits of habits to do what I must. Simple as that. and thanks again. :grandpa:

That's right, that's why I don't have a deep folder-structure (ingame). Only outside (in my PlugIn-Vault), there are plenty folders, for easy sorting and finding ;-))

Datpacking - well I gave up on that, too much trouble for very little gain (my subjective perception). My game starts up within a minute (on a fresh region), so I don't really mind.

I'm curious - how big are your ingame Plugin folders (on the average)?
